Hi guys, I have a bit of a problem here deciding what I can do with my car's alarm. It's a '94 German LHD, and on the window it has two stickers, one of Porsche Drive Block, and the other an after market alarm company from UK.

I was told that non-uk 993 did not have any alarm fitted. I don't have any special "key" for any immobiliser, just the remote key fob for the after market alarm. Do you think the Drive Block was bypassed? I thought the Drive Block was an immobiliser in-built as part of the ECU.

I want to get the Toad alarm fitted but I'm just not sure what has happened to the "Drive Block", can it be by passed easily?and how did it work in the first place, did it need a key or remote? Anybody has any idea?

Hi Mick

You may want to try and contact Hamilton and Palmer (link below). I believe they fitted all the alarms in the 993's when they were imported to the UK. They recently fitted a new board and supplied new key fobs for my PA1000 alarm. They may be able to help.

Thanks

Cheers for the reply Mark. I have already spoken to them. Well, the alarm fitted to my car is not one of those fitted to the uk spec cars, more likely to be an after maket one. But what I'm concerned about is the Drive Block, I'm not sure if it's an immobiliser that's part of th ECU and if it's still active. I guess I just have to take it to an alarm shop to have it looked at. Would you say just any good alarm shop or a Porsche specialist shch as JZ?
