Newbie looking at 991.2's

Hello guys. Just getting ready to take early retirement and finally in a position to get the car of my dream, a 911. I am looking at 991.2's as my happy spot for age and pricing. I would prefer to buy from an OPC so that I can get the warranty but as of yet, searching online, nothing at an OPC floats my boat. I have seen two cars at an indie, Redline Specialist cars. The following two cars really interest me, but pricing seems a bit out of line for an indie. What's your thoughts on these two for a first time 911 owner? The C4S looks loaded so i guess explains why it's close to the price of the GTS. Thanks in advance.

4wd S with leather v 2wd with Alcantara
Same colour but GTS has more standard spec, so few options but it does (GTS) have nose lift

the price difference is minimal even with the 4wd premium on the 4S
but it's GTS all day long, just look at the value of any 911 GTS over a 4S that is where the market is
noting they put a bit more effort in the GTS and is styled better and has a better spec

that looks so nice
I prefer alcantara (racetex) over leather and also GTS over S if you can do it.

After my recent 992 test drives in a 4 GTS and C2S, was genuinely surprised at the real differences on the road compared to the spec sheets. May be best to drive both these cars back-to-back to see how they feel to you.

Thanks for the replies guys. Should the fact that it will be my daily driver influence my discussion regarding suspension, power etc ?

Thank you, an excellent read. You think the same would apply to a 991 ?
Unfortunately not sure.
Apparently the suspension on the 992 GTS substantially stiffened over the base and S.
Only real way to decide what suits you best, is to drive both cars.
If the suspension is not an issue to you, would personally go GTS.

what DRZ911 said

noting all 911 GTS cars have been set up stiffer than the C2S or C4S but i agree that 992 GTS seems to be a lot stiffer than previous generations

So with me new to the Porsche world and heading into retirement, I really want to stick with something that either has or will qualify for OPC warranty. It seems like many indie dealers are pricing their cars as high or even higher than OPC's. Here is one from an OPC with 2.5 yrs of warranty and is priced lower than most matching cars even at indie's. What's your thoughts on it, anything that may be a red flag as its been for sale for a while now. Its not my first choice of colour but i don't mind it. I really dont want black or red. Is the market correcting ? Thanks guys/

6 owners in 7 years would put a lot of people off but the warranty and price should balance that out.

I think it looks a lovely car.
2.5 years warranty is a real bonus.
Noticed that the photo of the instrument pack shows 29,952 miles, yet the advert says 35,500 miles. Worth understanding the difference.
Also check the brake discs/pads for when they will next need replaced. Depending on what is the real mileage, they may never have been done yet.

To be honest when I started looking at 911’s I was shocked at how many owners these cars would have. Many seem to have a new owner every year or so. If it was a ‘regular’ car , I wouldn‘t entertain it as I would think it was a lemon or something. Reading on the Porsche forums, I have seen the subject come up multiple times and many people say it’s the whole “toy” ownership experience and people move on to the next vehicle soon. You are right though a one or two owner car is way more appealing.

Hope you find your dream 911. Exciting times!

Something I've noticed recently, is several youtube videos (enthusiasts and traders) saying that the used car market has been performing very badly. Apparently, reports are that October sales were as bad as December, which are always a notoriously bad month for dealers. As a result, prices of used cars have taken a significant drop. Below could be an example of this. Personally, I would be holding fire, just to see what the market is doing in the new year.

One question for you, why have you settled on on a 991 Gen2? I know I am biased, but the Gen1 GTS is pretty epic and the last of the N/A 911's

Good luck with your search!
