Hi all,

Purchased this car a few weeks back now and I can't stop admiring just how immaculate the car is!

Originally I had been looking at a manual... Because the Internet says so and in total I looked at 5 cars. 3 were absolute dogs, 1 a dealer tried to con me and I had all but given up hope.... Then this came along and completely changed my opinion on the tiptronic box. What an epic drive!

When I arrived it was a gloomy day and the previous owner had given the car a wash and it sat on his drive in all its glory:

Needless to say an impressive first impression

I thought I was being overly cautious when looking at previous cars. Things like checking rev ranges, ppi reports, hpi, and contacting the specialist that had serviced the car to get a greater understanding of the car but for whatever reason that all went out the window when I saw this car and the folder of receipts! I took a gamble there and then only going on a hpi report and it's receipts.

One test drive, a phone call to the bank and as they say... The rest is history.

Gave the car a quick detail today and its like the gift that keeps on giving!

It is absolutely immaculate!

Here's the list of the main upgrades:

Sitting at 650bhp without meth and 680 bhp in sport mode with 50/50 meth/water mix @ 10psi+

Cargraphic exhaust 200cell cats

Cargraphic Manifold - 997 Turbo Racing version

2 x GT2 Hybrid Turbos with billet wheels and motor sport bearings

Gt2 RS Intercoolers

To top it off the previous owner purchased an incredible set of 19" Manthey Racing tripple forged wheels!

Now the adrenaline has subsided a little ill get it up on a ramp and give it a good check over at a specialist local to me.

Lovely I have the same turbos and similar lightweight wheels. You stole that car. Whoever did the previous mods knows their onions. That thing will destroy a 997 GT2 RS in a drag. In fact I'd love to race yours in your full banzai mode 680bhp on track. Friends with 600LT, 991 turbo and F12 can't keep up on dawn raids. You're welcome to tag along :D
:hand:

That is certainly an impressive looking beast, I'm not surprised you are pleased!
So much shine on it after the detailing it looks chromed

Thanks guys! Think I check on it about 15 times a day before bed haha For a 15 year old car, as has been said many times, pictures don't do it justice.

Brilliant!! I've contacted manthey directly via their insta and customer service email trying to get some more info about them and have had no response.
Tyvm. I'll be heading down to the jzm cars and coffee on the 12th

You sir have thrown down the gauntlet

It looks fantastic - great mods. I would be admiring that in drive as much as you are. Enjoy.

Cheers CB911C4S  there's a whole raft more work that's receipted for. I just need to take the time to clarify what's-what. I'll post as I go along.

On the outside it truly is a well looked after example the and rear techart Diffuser defo adds to its appeal.

The main reason I wanted to get the car checked over is that there's a slight knock on the front right wheel at low speeds over uneven surfaces. So, I headed down to RJD Porsche Specialist in Harlow and got the car up on a ramp to have a good look. Bobby that works there was the very guy that advised me a dealer (when I was enquiring about a different car) was doctoring rev range data and really showed a level of customer care that is rare to come by.

Wood blocks to the rescue because it sits low!

Partly a reason for getting it up on a ramp was to verify the list of mods.

Undertreys off and it looks spot on. Was worried the brake lines would be on the way out but they are relatively rust free and for the spots that are starting to show signs of rust they have been sprayed by the previous mechanic  Coolant crossover pipes replaced as well and it's even had a brand new steering rack fitted, from what I could see it had oem markings too :thumb:

TechArt Suspension working with PASM all in good order! These were circa £7k when fitted! Good news as suspension components are defo something that'll take a knocking over time.

Straight through manifolds and cargraphic exhaust sitting beautifully. I wanted to go down the Europipe route originally and had never heard of cargraphic but corr this setup makes such a lovely noise!

Water/meth pump hidden away nicely. You can see Bobby at RJD wedged some tissue to reduce any rattle or play in it as it was ever so slightly moving. I did wonder where they shoved it and good news that it's accessible. The control module sits under the steering wheel. I'll get some photographs next time. Only downside is that there's no obvious indicator to show that it is working or not. On the to do list.

Control arms bushes, lateral arms, drop links everything has been replaced or upgraded somewhere down the line.

All nuts have been torqued correctly, it appears the Subframe has been lowered and the cambre of the wheels adjusted to suit correctly as well. Everything done to the book. Great stuff.

As for the knock sound that rules out any sort of component causing it but Bobby seemed to think that because the car is sitting low on its suspension the main + helper spring are causing a knock noise at they expand and hit each other and suggested I head over to centre gravity to get it all sorted and re-adjusted. As it is as the moment it'll really snap your neck if you go too fast over anything haha

Bobby @ RJD Porsche was even so kind as to do a rev range check for me
Only ranges 1-4 and the last in range 4 was over 300 hours ago! Brilliant

There are a few other minor gremlins that I have noticed....

- Reverse sensors are working but there's nothing audible from them. Perhaps something to do with the retro fitted Bluetooth device
- key doesn't operate frunk latch
- manthey wheels have no pressure sensors and tmps is throwing up a red exclamation mark

All relatively easy fixes hopefully - just need to find the time and the right people. Want to get that knock sorted before much else and think I'll head down the Jaz Porsche in St Albans for a second opinion.

Old aftermarket coilovers like the Techart are prone to failure. Not as rugged as OEM I think also made by Bilstein and can be easily refurbed. CG brill.

On tyres I've discussed yours before on here if she is still running 305 rear and 245 front tyres maybe swap to 325 rear and 245 front as incorrect rolling radius circumference may ruin your awd system if run like that for any length of time. Or you can run the 305 rear with a 235 up front but not on those 9 and 12 inch wheels - the smaller size tyres suit OEM rims 8.5 and 11 inch. Try a Michelin P4S next as better in wet.

Cargraphic exhaust one of the best brands no need to change.

TPMS just code out more hassle than its worth how hard to check our own tyre pressures.

JZM well worth a chat to think they know your car as will have supplied those wheels.

Once you've got your snags sorted of course welcome anytime. Pmd

I'd be very surprised if the coilover has failed as there's no other symptoms. No pulling to one side, no dropped height, etc. Plus mileage is relatively low. Just a knock on uneven surfaces at low speed. Very odd.

Yeah, the r888 wouldn't have been my first choice in tyre thats for sure and you've reiterated what a few of my petrol head friends have said in regards to the P4S.

Rolling radius is something new to me and its currently sitting on 305 rears and 235 fronts. How have you calculated the correct size tyres vs wheel size?

Did try and code out tpms to get rid of the annoying light but for whatever reason the red exclamation mark didn't want to go... There were no other faults displaying but I had somewhere to be so didn't have the time to go through it again.

Look forward to it :D

This one was a no brainer:

Black titanium wheel bolts or rattle can jobbo?

Those are fine for now may be a little stretched if they are the 9 and 12 inch mag wheels I'm thinking of. You can upgrade to 245 and 325 if they are the 9 and 12 inch when you swap out. Toyo are fine just better tyres in the wet. I imagine quite fun even in the dry. Knock can be so many things. Top mounts quite a common issue at that sort of mileage. I ike the black cps

If you're on Toyo R888s you may be fine on 9 and 12's as - along with some of the other track day semi-slicks - they're a pretty wide fitment, but they're definitely less comfortable in the wet (unlike the MPS4S which are an excellent road tyre which can handle some track work).

Black wheel bolts

Black titanium wheel bolts or rattle can jobbo?

Porsche do black wheel bolts , I bought a set including locking wheel bolts from design 911, to go with my black BBS chr's and they don't seem to be prone to surface rust in the same way the standard OEM silver ones are?

what a lovely car, colour and purchase.

well done. love those wheels too. the tip box seems to suit the turbo well as you have some much low down grunt as well.

enjoy the beast.

I was going to say sort the wheel bolts out but sounds like you are on it. even just some black paint until the new bolts arrive ;-)
