I'm about to take the plunge and buy my first porsche :)

After reading lots and lots I have decided to go for a 1990 964 Carrera 4

Question is really wanted a turbo bodied version but seem very rare or very £££ so though might add a wide body kit (front & rear)

Seen a few Turbo Wheel Arch Front & Rear kits on a few sites in UK but need to know (being a 911 novice) what else do I need ie bigger wheels or spacers to fill out the arches?

Your help is appreciated

Aren't you in danger of seriously devaluing your 964?? (Unless it's a tatty one that needs some cosmetic add-ons to make it look decent, maybe.)

It all sounds a bit iffy to me. If you want a turbo body, buy the real thing (not necessarily with the turbo engine) - a 3.2 not a 964. But then if it's what you wanna do and it does it for you, do it. But you might take a £££ hit when you sell it on.

As a PS...

You've decided to go for a 1990 964 Carrera 4. Great choice. Looks pretty damn good as it came from the factory. And how it drives is more important than how it looks.

Then buy a Carrera 4 Turbo Look as that is likely to retain its appeal and value.

Tweak a good Porsche with history and you are almost definately digging a hole. That is unless you use a recognised Porsche specialist to do the work, after which you could probably have bought a later model car anyway. And although you say you'll hang onto it now, what happens when 993 and 996 Carrera S prices get to within your budget?

The turbo look involved far more than body panels. Suspension, brakes and wheels/tyres were upgraded. Check out some of the Porsche books for full details.

If its a good car, then enjoy it for what it is. Based on my own short experience, you will not be disappointed.
