I drove to work this morning - about 6 miles in heavy traffic. At the end of my journey my driver's side wing was very hot. I know the oil cooler is under the wing but is it normal for the wing to get so hot?
Can you hear the fan running? It has two speeds. If the fan isnt working it will be hotter than it should be. It is located inside the front wing behind the inner wheel liners.
It does sound like stage one of the fan is inop .. it's a ceramic resistor that fails .. can be checked with a tester or an indy garage can at any rate .
The wing gets warm yes .. but not exceedingly hot .
Thanks all. - drove it down to JZM to be checked this morning so should get a diagnosis later on. They have also said its normal for the wing to get hot - but I want to make sure. The wing was cool to touch when I arrived - after 20 or so miles on the motorway - so maybe it's a normal reaction to crawling through traffic on a hot day.
