Hi folks,
Saying hello again after being away from Porsche ownership for 5 years!
I made the decision to sell my 997.2 C2S back in 2018 to finance our holiday home in Spain.
After a few years of having a W205 C63 daily I decided to get back into a 911 since I am enamoured with how they drive and wanted to enjoy one while it was still possible to find good examples. Having scoured the classifieds for some time I was lucky to spot a really lovely example and snapped it up 2 days after it posted!
I picked her up a few weeks a go, a 997.1 C2S this time around.
Spec is lovely with the following options:
XLF Sports exhaust system
XMZ Leather centre console
XPA Thicker steering wheel
XRR 19" Carrera Sport wheels in GT Silver incl. colored Porsche crest
XSB Leather sports seat backrests
XSH Silver gray seat belts
X97 Gear lever knob with aluminium inlay
X98 Handbrake lever with aluminium inlay
026 Sport Chrono
267 Automatically dimmable mirrors
268 Rain sensor
377 16-way adaptive sports seat, left
378 16-way adaptive sports seat, right
09971 Exclusiv Manufaktur
A couple of rare items there including the thicker steering wheel. I'm not a huge fan, I'm a stickler for their traditional thin wheels. I'll be putting an alcantara GT3 wheel and gear knob/gaiter on her anyway which will tie in nicely with the alcantara roof lining. The only item I wish she had is heated seats, but couldn't let her pass. I would have liked a GT Silver one with cocoa interior as I had a 986.2S 50th Anniversary back in 2010 and loved the colour combo. Given the extra leather in the cabin in the centre console and seat backs, it feels that bit more special inside.
You have to buy on condition and she's in outstanding fettle, testament to the previous owners. First owner had her for 12 years! Service history is great, 9 stamps (6 OPC + 3 specialist). Just rolled over 54,000 miles. I've put 700 on her so far and hasn't used a drop of oil. Borescope inspection showing no damage on any cylinders.
I just replaced the clutch, clutch slave cylinder, Nickel brake pipe above the gearbox, engine mounts and gearbox mount. Works done at Cavendish Porscha, highly recommended by the way. Simon there is fantastic.
Up and over coolant pipes were changed recently, they were like new when inspecting with the box out recently. Coolant cross over pipes also recently done. Had rear dampers, top mounts & bump stops as well as front top mounts & bump stops. Aligned 3 months ago at Centre Gravity.
Has a near new PCCM+ in her too. Interior was out and reconditioned professionally as well as steering wheel and gear shifter re-trimmed. Alloys recently refurbished (they're my favourite style on the 997!), new PS2 rubber all round. She's just about perfect!
Looking forward to doing plenty of miles. My one regret with my last one is that I didn't drive it enough in the 4 years I owned her, so will be addressing that!
A few mods in the OEM+ spirit are planned including:
a. Aerokit front bumper.
b. GT3 rear bumper. No aero spoiler, love the clean deck lid look.
c. Exhaust (exact TBD but leaning towards M&M full system if I can figure out a means of getting a centre exhaust exit set-up).
d. Cruise Control retrofit.
e. GT3 shifter.
f. B16 or Ohlins coilovers, more research / test drives required.
g. As and when a rebuild may be required in a few years, Hartech 3.9 conversion with some intake & balancing work etc. to get close to 400bhp.
Plenty of build pics and DIY tinkering posts to come!
