...and did anyone read the pile of bull do-do in the same issue that posed as a 'buyers guide' of the 997.1? Apparently no specialist will stock a 997 S due to bore scoring risks, and build quality took a dive after the 996. I love my 996 but WTF?
EVO should be ashamed of regurgitating internet nonsense without bothering to do any actual research themselves.
There have been a few high profile departures from EVO recently. Henry Catchpole is moving to Drive Tribe, Jethrow Bovington has left as has Nick Trott (he's heading to Motorsport magazine.
Owning both a 991 GT3 and a Golf R I do struggle with the love the magazines have for the Golf. I realise the Clubsport is different with being 2 wheel drive and different suspension etc.
However the Golf R gets rave reviews and as much as I think its a good every day performance car its handling is average and turbo lag in normal driving can be a problem.
Its not that I don't like it, its comfortable, fast and safe, just think its overrated as I don't find it that exciting.

I find the idea of the Golf Clubsport irritating. Whats the point of a hot hatch with no rear seats. The whole point is that they are 'people's heroes', a car built for the average man to be day to day practical and a hoot to drive.
