I thought the warranty costs were double that amount?? In my head I had about £2200 for 2 years. Great news if I am wrong as mine is up for renewal in Feb.

You are correct, it is £2200 for 2yrs. That includes a 2 year European cover and hotel, onwards travel car & vehicle delivery once repaired etc. So it's not a bad price for how fragile and costly these vehicles are to run and repair.

Other than VED, Insurance and petrol, mine has cost precisely £0 to run :?:
Haven't even done a service yet (due in 5 months)...

Picked up the car late Friday, sat on the motorway for 2 hours wasn't the most entertaining drive, sat wishing I was in my XJ and why didn't I get a XJR!

Woke up Saturday thinking what have I done... went for a drive to find some car seats for the kids, mix of A and B roads and I started to fall in love. Soon as you hit past 4k-5k RPM the car just comes alive and puts a smile on your face.

Being inside the car just feels like my 996 except it's a lot more modern but not a patch on the XJ interior.

Engine wise its perfect, gearbox fine, clutch has a nice feel to it and bites early, handles wells.

Bad points (I'm been VERY picking about some, bearing in mind car is coming up 10 year old!)

After 70-75 MPH I get a bad vibration through the wheel, I think its the drop link that needs replacing that came up as an advisory.

Paint work needs a bit of tidying (couple of stone chips on bonnet)

Hood has a couple of abrasion marks but looking through forums its common, a new hood will only set me back £1250 -£1500 so no biggy, plus you can't beat a new bit of material to bring a new lease of life into a car!

Interior has a couple of marks on the leather, again minor but easily sorted.

Alloys have some bubbling on the inside of the spokes, £400 on a refurb if that.

I've got the car going into my son in law's garage tomorrow for a full checkup, drop links changing, top mounts changing and any other wearable parts changing.

I'll get the leather all restored (weekend job), paint work done by my sprayer so its 100% and then get it detailed and protected with a ceramic coat, after next summer I'll look at getting a new hood.

A good £500-£700 spent on the car excluding the hood will bring it back to being like new.

Update:

Rear shock leaking (covered under warranty)

Wheels were completely out of balance (only had new tyres fitted Friday!)

Strut tops coming Wednesday and the drop links are covered under warranty so getting both of them done too.

Just a note to say read the warranty policy before you call them - often warranty companies will prohibit a claim within the first 14 days of inception and they'll refer you back to the dealer to resolve. If you've already got it sorted then great, but it is possible to shoot yourself in the foot if you try to claim straight away.

The bits you mention are minor and I wouldn't suggest they detract from the quality of the car in any way, BUT I do find it disappointing to hear of another high end dealer who it seems is not that diligent - a drop link is cheap to supply and fit and the tyres would be bad form if it were a Mondeo, but on a 911 it's borderline irresponsible not to have properly test driven the car post-fitment and pre-delivery. A cynic could argue that the shock was leaking at the point of sale too. Not great for a dealer whose website claims that cars are "privately sourced to ensure the best examples are cherry picked".

Sorry for the negative tone, (no negativity is directed at the car) just bugs me when posh, glossy dealers are seen as the creme-de-la-creme, but when you scratch beneath the surface...

Anyway, the car in that colour looks just stunning so roll on the sunny days!! :thumb:
