Stick on number plate help

Hi folks, I have bought a stick on number plate for my 996 C4S and removed the 2 round bungs that the old holder screwed into. Is it advisable to just stick it on or do I need to fill the holes with something before applying the sticker?

I'd fill the holes and smooth them over before the plate goes on.
Otherwise you'll see the holes through the plate.

I just stuck mine on. The vinyl is thick enough that you can't see the holes. I also wanted to be able to change it back if the next buyer wanted the plate holder back on.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for.

Can we have more details please? Where did you buy it from? Is it legal?

Pics to follow? :thumb:

Here's a picture of mine on my RS60. I did fill the holes as part of a front end respray. Can't remember which site I bought from but the larger ones have a range of plates including legal stick ons. Passed many MOTs since.

How sensitive are they to the curve of the bumper? I look at my 986 front PU and I wonder where it would most like to go.

In between your 1,386th wheel and 1,387th wheel change yeah?!

None of the stick on ones are legal, they don't meet British Standards.

Coullstar

How likely to get a tug then?

Fairly unlikely. Look at all the '4D' plates around. None of those are legal.

The legal compliance of stick on plates has been aired before.

My 996 GT3 has worn a stick on plate for many years.

Other cars (E type Jag, etc) have adorned stick on plates without any difficulty.

My understanding is that the British Standard for rigid plates can't apply.

My GT3 has the BS number on the plate.

Never had any issues from Mr Plod or any MOT tester.

Thanks.
