Respray on a 997

Thanks :thumb: That was the idea, I wanted a Porsche colour (Arrow Blue) but something a bit different. The wheels are Lambo satin bronze, more of a subtle gold than bronze. I get the keeping it factory, but for me, I intend to keep the car until I can afford a GT3 ( a few years yet) and want to make it my own!

We have similar upgrades: Ohlins, wheels, repaint. I also want a GT3 Touring but can't afford one right now. We seem to be on the same journey..! ;)

Riviera Autobody in Oxford did mine, for a LOT less than 10k, and was a complete colour change. Mine started black, so the engine bay could be left as it was.

Great colour :worship:

Seconded, that looks stunning! What green is that?

Gosh, this thread makes me want to change colours ;)

+1 for Riviera. Ty has mine at the moment, with a colour change planned. Delayed due to parts available and me changing my mind 😂. I've had paint done elsewhere in the past, including Porsche approved, and the work that Riviera do is excellent given the cars I have seen. Including two cars that a family member have had painted by them.

Riviera very good did one of my old cars. I'd give them a 7 or 8 out of 10. With 10 being factory. Yellow being a difficult colour to match across bumpers etc so kudos to Riviera 8)

Amazing, keep us posted with photos.

I'm guessing it's a good time to replace out any worn and tired parts whilst its being done. My wheel arch liners could definitely do with being swapped out with new ones.

It's more of a project than a respray. I agree with wheel arch liner, at least the front part, as they're brittle at the age of the 997. I replaced mine around four years ago.

Rubbers and seals are highly likely to need replacing. As I'll have the glass out in any case, I'm deleting the rear wiper with new rear screen. And whilst that's being done anyway, new left and right door glass as they're both scratched from grit in the window seals. New lights, or at least a sand and repaint with UV clear coat. If I were being full on pedantic, perhaps replace or remove the front windscreen wiper arms and respray. Also, maybe consider replacing or refreshing the valance at the base of the windscreen.

I'm sure I'll think of something else to replace. Perhaps underbody resealing :dont know:

For the amount it'll cost wiper arms and scuttle tray are a no-brainer. Consider getting the scuttle tray done in clear coat or black before Ty puts it in. Headlight and side/fogs are a huge improvement too.

I was going to replace the scuttle tray on mine as it was starting to look faded, have been using Meguiars Ultimate Black recently, bings it back to as new condition and lasted well too. Tried other so called 'back to black' restorers that have either not worked at all or just lasted for a few days!

You might get ripped for close to £10k in London but if your bodywork is in decent condition you shouldn't have to pay half that.

Had mine done last year, full glass out colour change at a small specialist in MK for under £4.5k.

Thanks deMort :thumb: Yes, lockdown resulted in quite a few mods, including the colour change :D in fact it was just before lockdown I had it serviced at Precision!

.. and yes, they are good. Certainly better than the standard xenons, possibly due to just being new with clear lenses, my old lights were a little dull. I think they look much better with the new style DRLs, the second pic shows the old DRL's which I never really liked too much.
