Hi All,
I'm a relatively new owner of a porsche 997. Purchased about 6 months ago and wow what a car. It's a 3.8.
But recently it's developed a metally ticking noise that gets louder as the engine warms, so I took it to the garage that serviced my Mercs (he also does Porsche) and after a few hours came back to me saying it's the liners and will need a total rebuild. so took it for a second opinion (a specialist just down the road from this garage and he said the similar thing. I'm not sure if they know each other and have discussed. So booked it in with Porsche for next week. Am frightened they might say it needs a new engine. what do you think I should do? the cars done 96k but has full history and the engine apart from the ticking noise is smooth. No black smoke, no excessive oil usage. Help please!
