HVAC noise

My 997 has started making a very annoying noise in the cabin. I have narrowed it down to the HVAC as when I turn the fan off it stops - and starts again when I switch it back on. It is coming from drivers side and sounds like it’s from the vent on the dash near the window. Any ideas how to fix or what it might be? TIA
 
could be dust or debris build up, worth giving the unit a clean
