Carbon Buckets increase height

Hi All

I have an issue, I am only 5 foot 6 inchs tall and have a set of folding carbon bucket seats to fit into my 997 turbos.

The problem is they sit too low as I have the 18-way seats at the maximum height, after looking at the seat rail there not easy to increase the height.

I did think of using 918 fixed seat rails, but I think they are over 1k new.

I am looking for some ideas without putting extra holes in the seats.

if I add spacers the seats then become unsafe in an accident, maybe.

Cheers

Tim

Whilst the usual driving position for GT and other cars fitted with carbon buckets is to mimic the effect of your ball sac dusting the tarmac that does not suit everyone

I have the folding carbon buckets and I'm at the opposite end to yourself at 6'01". Most people my height would say you sit too high but I find them just a tad lower than my ideal driving position.

Whilst I'm known in some circles for having 'short arms and long pockets' body length is a factor in seat height. There is a owner near me with a 991 GT3RS with the 918 seats that sits so low he looks through the steering wheel suggesting they don't go very high or he's a fan of MC Hammer's trouser style.

The Folding Bucket seat was deleted as an option by Porsche to satisfy US legislation I believe as it could not be height adjusted. From my research I haven't found anyone offering a solution unless Porsche can answer it? I can't believe that there isn't some type of bracket to raise the seat but expect if Porsche don't do one they won't warranty etc.

In the 80s my chum had the same issue with his Mini GT. He mounted the seat on wooden blocks, frequently tightening the wood screws when they worked loose

Another quality post from Zingari who is a shining light in a gloomy morning.

I'd have a word with a rally or motorsport specialist who might be able to sort you out with some extended seat mounts (if you need side mounts) or taller seat base (if you have a base mounted bucket). I'm guessing they might need to be taller/higher than usual but it can't be impossible.

In my experience installing buckets in a car is always a faff, but it is worth it.

I'm 5'7 and have the buckets in mine. You do get used to the lower position.

Alternatively, Garry at Classicfx might be able to make you some bespoke seat bases.
