I am considering a break from Porsche ownership and selling my much loved 997 Turbo which I've had since 2014. I am looking at the Mercedes AMG GTS. I've not driven one yet but sat in one and revved the engine the sound is awesome. Does anyone have any experience of them or got any views to share.

When they were first released, I took one for an extended test drive. Highly underwhelming experience coming from a 997.2 C2S. Introduce the money side at £150k and it was an absolute no.
Take one for a test drive for sure though, it wasn't for me.

I've not driven one, but a friend borrowed one for a few days and took me for a drive in it.

Good grief, the noise... sounds amazing. Was astonishingly fast too, instantaneous gear changes. The AMG engine is a glorious thing.

Its a big car... long and wide.

Reports of the steering are generally that its a bit light and remote-feeling.

At £150k it might not make sense, but at £60k used its well worth consideration. I would love one.

JayEmm has done a very good review on his YT channel, and there is a great video by Chris Harris where he goes into the tech.

AMG GTS EDITION ONE VS 991 Carrera S 3.8 PDK RS Spec.

I have an AMG GTS Edition One with around 33k miles on it.

Genuinely the car is a phenomenal car the 4 litre bi turbo is a very powerful engine and the car has enormous power in comparison to a 991 Carrera S in basic form let's just say it will demolish it in a race. I've fitted a GT2RS aerodynamics complete upgrade to my Carrera S with 12J and 9.5J 20" wheel's with PS4 tyres. The downforce the 3.8 PDK system with the valvetronic exhaust system is something truly special the car feels absolutely awesome and think on a track the Porsche just feels so much fun however the AMG has ferocious power still and eats up the road and doesn't feel as special. The cockpit of the Benz with the seats are still great though. I am in the process of doing a Black Series conversion on my AMG GTS with the car almost completed. I think with the Black Series Aerodynamics package and a power increase it will make the Porsche feel not so special.

Will be a handful to drive 😜

First and foremost, the design caught my attention - it's undeniably stylish and aggressively appealing. Sitting in the cabin, you feel a blend of luxury and sportiness, a combination I've always wanted to experience. The sound of the V8 engine in the AMG GTS is a story of its own. The steering is precise, and the response to the gas pedal is immediate. Of course, there are a few aspects to consider, such as limited trunk space and the absence of rear seats, but perhaps these are compromises for the sake of the impressive design and high-tech features.
