Porsche has introduced the new Panamera S Hybrid variant of its Gran Turismo Panamera model.

Powering the Panamera S Hybrid is a 3.0 liter V6 compressor engine with 333 PS (245 kW/329 bhp) coupled with an 47 PS (34 kW/ 46 bhp) electric motor for a total output of 380 PS (279 kW / 375 bhp). The electric motor also works as both a generator and starter and is fed current from a nickel-metal hydride battery. The Panamera S Hybrid comes with Porsche's eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.

0 to 100 km/h acceleration takes just 6.0 seconds and top speed is a breezy 270 km/h (168 mph). The gasoline V6 is turned-off at "sailing" speeds of up to 165 km/h (103 mph) during highway stretches to save fuel.

The hybrid Panamera features an average fuel-economy rating of 7.1 liters/100 km (40 mpg imperial) and on electric power alone can run up to 2 km (1.24 miles) or reach a top speed of 85 km/h (53 mph). CO2 emissions are 167 g/km on the European cycle.

The Panamera S Hybrid will make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1st.
