heavy steering.................

......does anyone have any idea why my steering has gone 'heavy' ?the car is a 964 carrera 4 with the corrct pressure in the front tyres(36 psi).A fair amount of slack seems to have developed and it feels as if i am running on flat front tyres.....it doesnt feel right...any ideas??
