Would go warranty wise, they dont cover "known issues" so that's IMS and bore score out of the window. Warranty Direct much better bet, I've had 2 significant claims with them, no problems.
Couldn't remember which one was good and which was bad! Know RAC is pretty useless though
Don't know the RAC warranty, but dealer warranties often don't have sufficient claim values and/or coverage. I obviously meant to say "
wouldn't go warranty wise"! In 2014 for my 997.1, they said this via email "...we are well aware of the known faults on the Porsche type you mention and unfortunately they would not be covered under our warranty."
Best to always check for these "known issues", "publicised faults" type of clauses or even just come out with it and get a straight answer to a straight question about covering bore or ims faults. My 997.1 was good as gold, the claims I've had with WD were on my 997.2, steering rack and suspension, well over £3k
