Anyone got a good way to mount an iphone 5 on a 993 dash? I use it as sat nag. In my previous 997 I used a Brodit kit (v good!) but I don't know if the 993 equivalent is as good.
If you have a front loading CD player, you could do a lot worse than a cd sat nav mount. I have one in the daily driver, but it might a bit low in a 993. They are available on the net.
Thanks for all the advice, including the witty one,. As soon as I see an innuendo I whip it out!
I found a device made by Mitec which holds the phone and plugs directly into the cig lighter. No keen on suction mounts as they tend to fall off. With bluetooth speaker on the sunvisor it makes enough noise to hear the speedcam warnings too.
If you want a simple easy to use solution that doesn't require any fixing or modifications:
I use one of these.
the only problem is that it's a bit low down, but I prefer that to being stuck in my line of vision.
Available from your local Ebay stockist.
Attached to the air vent near the driver's door. I have a power cable routed behind the dash that emerges from the end of the dash where it meets the door. This connects in and the the audio is routed via a parrot Bluetooth unit. This means the phone keeps it's charge when in use as a GPS.
It's neat and I'm mostly happy. Drawbacks are the hands free mic is not effective (mounted behind the steering wheel) and the speakers are not really loud enough as I have an RS interior (no sub etc). This is mostly a problem at motorway speeds although audio directions from the map application are the least effected.
Sorry no pics as the car is away for a little 'adjustment' in a magic cave near bank quay.
