PASM Retrofit 997.1

Yes, it is possible and it's complete after far too many years. This was originally justified by a broken rear n/s spring :floor:

Mechanicals such as struts, springs and anti-roll bar / sway bar / stabiliser were relatively easy go find and fitted by Center Gravity, along with a full geometry setup and a handful of new suspension parts.

The electronic control box was very easy to find, as were the two acceleration sensors along with the new dash button from your favourite internet auction sites. Two PASM repair looms for the front only were required from Porsche, although I bought four total for front and rear just in case. The front and rear sensor mounts along with the PASM control unit mount under the glovebox also came from Porsche, and were a steal at £16 inc VAT!

The very hard part is the wiring. Whilst being technically possible to make yourself, if you have the skills, time and the correct plugs, it will not be easy. It is also possible to get a loom created by a friendly auto electrician. It will be very expensive.

I took the route of finding a donor car loom and tore that down to separate the PASM loom. Both main front loom and the internal loom are required.

Once you have all that in place it all needs installing and coding. I owe a massive debt of gratitude to Zuffenhaus in Birmingham for making it all possible.

If you're considering a PASM retrofit for your 997 I can advise from experience don't start it unless you have all components in-hand and ready to fit. Otherwise, make it easy on yourself and purchase a DSC Sport kit, which is between $2,250 and $2,500, with a pre-prepared loom excluding mechanicals. This however will not be OEM, with the centre console button, which I was not prepared to sacrifice.

Not all parts will be required, such as the supporting mounts and bushes. If your car has never had them changed, it's better to replace them. Your dash switch may be different. Here is my parts list:

Retaining Bracket: 99761820500

My total parts cost was just over £2K as the original front struts were replaced as they had been on the car that long! The total fitting and geometry costs were £1,287. Some of the parts costs I'll recover by selling the old parts.

At some point in the future I will probably swap the Porsche (Bosch) control unit for a DSC Sport control unit with the far superior three-axis sensor. They're not able to fulfil orders until next year now so I'm not really in a rush.

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to ask someone else. I'd highly recommend getting in touch with Mike or Paul at https://www.zhporsche.co.uk

P.S. Does anyone want a C4S loom without PASM?

Glad it's worked out well for you. You've certainly been in good hands with Center Gravity and Zuffenhaus!

Thanks @wjk_glynn. It was Rennlist where I got the inspiration. I still blame them!

Also thanks @tom_nieto, both Center Gravity and Zuffenhaus are excellent and I can't recommend them both enough.

Nice project. And not ridiculously expensive in the broad scheme. Good job!
