Hi guys!

I hope you can all help me, I'm new here and everyone in the community here all seem so amazing!

I have a Porsche 996 Targa I bought second hand, I didn't realise until I bought it but the Sunvisor on Targa models is far different to a regular 996 Sunvisor - Essentially I have one of the Sunvisor lenses missing and a hole in my Sunvisor, but I'm not sure what to do to get a replacement?

Porsche themselves can't find / source the part, and I've shopped around online but can't find one anywhere. It's only a small piece of plastic and I'm wondering if I need to buy a whole new Sunvisor just for this part?

Printing the part 3d I've been quoted £100+ and it's £60 minimum for a Sunvisor, when I only need a small part of it. What would everyone recommend here?

Hi there,

I've had a look at the porsche parts catalogue and can't find the part you need either. A quick google but still can't find anything for you.

There is a pair of grey visors on eBay, both complete with lens' for £60 with a best offer option. You could try £40/£50 maybe and have a spare, or try and sell the other one to get some money back ???

Hope you get sorted mate :thumb:

...if you can but a pair for £60 you're laughing...v.cheap repair in 996 land

You've got a good close up there. I'd scour eBay for anything similar from VAG group from a few years either side. I bet it's a Polo or Golf part for example. Can't believe Porsche would design and tool up something so insignificant and yet so specific. This was their cost-cutting era, remember.

Just a thought, but is there a part number on the lens itself?

Otherwise, and I don't meant to sound blase but welcome to Porsche prices and £60 to find a part that is bugging you is now part of your world. Welcome to the pain.

Sometimes a part that you expect to be c. £300 turns out to be a pleasantly surprisingly £70 but then sometimes a part that you expect to be c. £10 turns out to be £70!!

£60 for a new visor that includes the lens, given Porsche tax, sounds reasonable and then it wont be bugging you any more....

If you have a copy of the 3d print file I'd be happy to try and run a print off for you.
