Inner Tie Rods Question

I am about to do the inner tie rods on my 997.2 as its reached 80k as part of a full suspension refresh.

My question is do any of you have a recommendation for a tool to fix the oetiker clamp in place?

I have previously done this job on my 996 and had to give up on using the proper clamp as I just couldn't get enough grip / pressure / room on the clamp and in the end used zip ties to secure the boot in place. This time I want to do the job 100% properly so if anyone has a suggestion of what tool to get it would be most helpful.

If you mean the clip type, when I did the suspension on my 964 I used jubilee clips (as a tool, not instead of the proper thing!). They are typically wider than the oetiker clamp and have the advantage of compressing it all the way round, rather than just squeezing the clamp together.
I even went to the trouble of cutting out slots in the jubilee clamp to go over the oetiker clamp, although that might of been overkill.
Put the oetiker clamp in place "finger tight", then put the jubilee over the top and wind it in until the oetiker clamp clips tight.

The other type that need crimping, most people probably use a blunt pair of side cutters, I'd just buy the tool, they are not expensive.

Pincers.

I changed one of mine in August. Didn't have a problem accessing it from under the car. The outer spring clip was too small so ended up putting a jubilee clip on that one.
