Hi Chaps, not posted or been on for a while. I decided tonight to finally get round to a fault I have had with the car ever since I bought it last year. The guy who sold it to me said the rear parking sensors worked intermittently and usually didn't work just after he had washed it so he assumed that water was getting in somewhere and causing the fault. Over the last few weeks they now do not work at all and I noticed that the sensor fitted to the most outward position on the drivers side was pushed in slightly. I removed the bumper and checked the wiring for any breakages but all looks fine. I noticed the last sensor that was pushed in was different from all the rest and not a Bosch one so it's obviously been replaced before. I also noticed one of the tabs holding it in was damaged hence the reason it's pushed inwards. Looking at all the others they all have a black zip tie neatly fitted around them holding them in place - this last one didn't. I had a spare OEM sensor so decided to swap out the aftermarket one for this working one. Put it all back together and.............still not working!
Now, when I put the car in reverse I can't hear any of the sensors making the faint ticking sound that I have heard on my other cars. I listened to the front sensors (which work fine) and they don't make a noise either. If there is no ticking does this mean there is no power getting to any of them at the back? I did have the car in for some work at the start of this year in a Porsche specialist and he advised that when he did a diagnostic the car was showing a rear parking sensor fault but can they pinpoint exactly what the fault is from that scan - and the specific sensor or sensors that are the issue? They never noted in my bill that any were faulty. All the sensors looked fine when I inspected them albeit the two outmost ones were caked in dried mud which I cleaned off.
Thanks in advance for any help on what to try next.
