A/C regas 993

I'd go to a specialist. For example, Alpinair in West London charge £60 (check you have correct old gas type if using Kwikfit!).

It was quite interesting to watch them do a vacuum test first. If the vacuum holds, then add gas. (EDIT: or was it pressure test. Either way...) It's an automated machine, but you do one, wait a bit then do the next. Not much point pumping in gas if no vacuum. I assume that's how KwikFit avoid charging as they need not use gas if they know it leaks.

Fault finding is a pain. As alluded to above, the Evap is basically the bit that Porsche put on the factory floor then build a car around!

Good luck!

Good luck!

I remember when I had the first one done my Indy quoted less than £500 for the job not having done one before. Needless to say they revised the price after :floor:

Thanks for the replies.
I took the car to ATS today for a regas, they didn't really inspire confidence, so I made my excuses and left!
I then went to a local car a/c guy, who seemed to understand how a/c systems work...
To refresh, the system was working fine prior to lockdown & had not be run for nealrly 3 years, there was 35% of the gas left in the system.
Apparently this was good enough to regas the system.

It is now working better, with visible condensation on the cold low pressure pipe.
I need to see how I get over the next few weeks/ months?
