996 Turbo tucked away in the garage for winter!

What do people think of starting the engine once a month and give it a few revs when engine temp is hot enough??

This is not a good idea. Unless you are going to drive it when it cools it will create condensation. Sure the engine will get warm and headers get hot but everything else will remain cold including the gearbox. You will end up with a small heat source near lots of other cold metals = condensation when it cools. I'm assuming the car is in an unheated garage. I would say either start and drive the car and get it properly warm or leave it be. Just my opinion.

Thanks,

what about taking the fuel pump fuse out and turning it over once a month?

It would certainly pump oil around the engine and refill the tappets to a degree so would do no harm.

I have a hidden switch to the fuel pump and always turn it over before starting up..as said much rather drive it with dry roads it's lethal RWD + POWER not a great combo

Or as crazy as it sounds.....just drive it ? its a car not a Hedgehog
we only live once you might not god forbid even see spring

i was going to molly coddle mine when i got her this year but after talking to fellow owners they said just drive it, One fella even told me he had his roof down on xmas day going for a drive.

like anything in life if it aint repairable get another

As above.

Starting it once a month would do more damage than good in my opinion. I'd say you want to be turning it over at least every 2 days if you want to keep the internals oiled up. Either that or don't bother and just take the one off hit when you restart it in the new year.

If I don't use mine all weekend then come to start it up on a Monday morning it is by far noisier than if used daily.

Thanks, taken plenty of advise on board in Tenerife for Xmas hope everyone has a good one 🎄🍺

Mine is sitting outside on the drive with its spare wheels with winter tyres.Bring on the snow. :thumb:

Ha I should add supergirls 911 turbo too! Few more shots of Dusty Mauve Pearl Met. Even the name of the paint sounds so exotic! These special cars deserve special colours. Wicked! :thumb:
