993 Fan bearing conversion

Hi there ,
Would the reburb'd alt not already have new brushes fitted, or is the pack not integral to the alternator?

Yes I expect so but i didnt change the alt as when removed it seemed fine, so i thought thefan bearing which sits on the shaft was the issue which turned out to be correct. So whilst the alt was out i hanged the voltage reg & brushes (1 unit).

Hope that helps

Cheers Parksey.

I've been getting a barely audible low rumble from that area , I've changed the fan hub but its still there , it can only be the alt bearing I suppose at this stage, I was just wondering if I'd have to get a brush kit too when changing it ..

BTW No other side effects besides the rumble. It's so quiet, I had to point it out to my indie at last service , he had to use a stethoscope to hear it!
