Hi All

New to the forum, I have owned a few 911s over years from newer models and more recently early 60s and 70s cars, I have decided that a slightly more modern 911 would allow for more every day use. So on the look out for a 964 C2.

I owned a 993 many yrs ago but have little experience of 964s, so what are the key areas i should be looking out for?

Best Regards
Mark

Normal things are corrosion on the scuttle, around the screens, etc, plenty of receipts, etc. Buy on condition, don't worry about mods and upgrades if done well.

Mine is 1990 with 114,000km and it had 3 previous owners. The guy I bought it from had it for 9 years, maintained it himself with no OPC or specialist servicing but setup done by a well-known person and receipts showed that quality parts had been used. He had even taken the time to route the front air vents to the brakes rather than just fitting for appearance.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have, although there are a lot of people on here that are far more knowledgeable than I am. If you haven't done so already you should visit Rennlist as well.

These are fairly simple cars but incredibly rewarding on many levels.

:welcome: to 911uk

I'm sure you'll find plenty of information just by scrolling through this 964 sub-forum. Pay special attention to the 'stickies' at the top of the thread list.

Good Luck :thumb:

Thanks guys

The biggest challenge is finding a C2 coupe, I quite like the Velvet red car which is currently on offer in the North West, it was a C4 converted to a C2 also it has had the engine modified, I would assume the engine mods are reversible.

The only other RHD car is one which is in Cyprus, which makes viewing a bit of a challenge, good excuse for a long weekend in the sun....

That has had work done by decent people and looks like a potentially good car.

It will be interesting to see what an apparently decent 160,000 miles C4 goes for.

This one is a C2.

So it is... It will still be interesting to see what it goes for though.

Yes I have just seen this one, from going through the documents on the Web site it has a well documented history

Engine build around 12 yrs ago and only 5k miles since.

I think you would have to go through all the mechanicals for piece of mind, it also looks a bit tired not surprising given its done 200k miles....I think the winning buyer will need to have a bit of spare cash just in case there are any hidden issues.

Will be good to inject some new blood into the 964 thread :p
The hunt is the fun bit
Look forward to seeing what you purchase :thumb:

Best car I own by far....

Happy to say I have found a pretty nice C2 hardly used in the last 10 yrs, only challenge is its not in the UK, it will need a bit a work due to sparce use brakes, suspension fuel systems.
Any advice purchasing a car from abroad from the Eu would be appreciated, I have contacted a car import company so in the process of arranging shipping

Regards
Mark

I can't answer your question but I'd love to hear more about the car. If you've not sealed the deal yet then feel free to keep it to yourself for a bit.

Just make sure you have it PPI'd - mine was hardly used in the past 5 years (less than 100 miles) - it meant the basics had been done with little attention to keeping up to scratch.

Good luck with the purchase!
