A few jobs required over the past week. Taking out plugs 4,5,6 revealed there wasn't any 'wetness' of oil just some black carbon type stuff mainly on No 6 as expected. I've put off 1,2,3 for another day. Top tip use the plug extractor attachment from the supplied tool kit in case your nomal appliance leaves the rubber plug gripper on the plug in the deep recess. Ask me how I know
I wanted to address the 'bald' patch on the drivers door sill - a common trait for these cars although on my 993 the carpet had worn on 50k miles and not 220k+ like this one!

Just needs a bit of 'fluffing' and a trim down but it saves the burn of a full Southbound carpet set. Luckily trimming some excess carpet from underneath the rear footwell overlap provided the donor. Note: Ignore the black carpet mat. The original has very good pile but the plastic heel pad is knackered so I've handed it over to a neighbour who has a carpet business to stitch in a piece of vinyl to the same shape and then I'll vax the carpets. I did order a replacement set of mats from a company on eBay that assured me they had the correct pattern for a G-series (no AC) but clearly their idea is different to mine so they went back for a refund.
Next up was the driver's seat.
There's a decent 'patina' on the seat, I quite like it, and I suspect a dye and treatment will sort it out to bring it back like new. However the main 'issue' was the springing/padding in the base. My arse was so low it left you with the feeling your gonads could be skimming the tarmac so I need to hoik it up. Removing the seat is simple enough but the weight of manoeuvering it out/in is not a good idea after a mutton tikka vindaloo with risk of further chalfont damage
Note the MC Hammer era Blaupunkt amp under the seat - not sure if it's still connected given the updated Blaupunkt retro DAB unit in the dash.
Reading Pelican Parts to sort this out you need to tighten the zig zag springs in the base effectively connecting them together with metal 'pig tails' (you can see some present that have expanded). Obviously I didn't have any nor the specialist tool to ring and then join them so I thought I'd give it a go with cable ties to test it. Surprisingly it works and now the sport seat is like an armchair
