"Zemax" Conversions?

Has anyone come across this type of conversion? A company down in Andover,
www.Sovereigncarsales.co.uk
have one in yellow. Would it be 964 based?

Any ideas folks?

From what I have heard, as far as conversions go, they are not bad. I think you can base them on any generation 911. I would steer clear though. The look is a matter of personal taste but selling on a Zemax'ed car would be a nightmare. I remember seeing one for sale privately for probably over a year!

Also, as a rule of thumb, don't by 911's from random car dealers. These guys tend not to have the best examples. Good 911's usually end up at good independent Porsche specialists (or for sale privately). Massive generalisation but normally the truth.

OK. Just had a look at the website. It is hard to work out definitively what car the Zemax is based on but the steering wheel is certainly pre-964. In fact it is pre 3.2. At best, therefore, it is based on a 3.0SC and at worst on a 2.7. A normal version of those cars would not cost you more than £10k so £20k for this car is a laugh (unless you personally happen to love the look and think it is worth £10k).

Quite how they can get away with describing a car that has has its front wings, rear wings, sills, spoiler and front bumper cut up and changed "unmolested" I don't know :wink:
. I wonder what they would call "molested".

Personally, I would not give it a second look, but it is only my personal preference.

Sorry for writing a 4th post about this. After being so rude about it
I felt obliged to find out what it was so I phoned them up! It is based on a 1978 3.0SC. These cars were originally only putting out about 185bhp (versus 204 bhp of the latter SC's). The conversion was done about 12 years ago.

£20k is a lot of cash for a '78 SC with a body kit. Apparently it cost the owner £30k+ but unfortunately I would say "more fool him". On a good day, it might be worth £12k but I wouldn't pay more than that.
