Good evening I've recently got a 86 carrera which has 17 inch 10 j rear and 8.5 inch I think on the front they've been on there for over 30 years I think they are Called Twist they are in very good condition I'd like to sell them could anyone advise me on there value I'm hoping to put the proceeds towards a set of Fuch wheels I don't think I'll get originals but I'm happy with reproductions I don't mind used one the current wheels look perfect regards the size but I keen to get the car back to close to factory standard
Very much appreciate any advise on the subject
Happy days Carl

Hi Carl

:welcome: to 911uk

I've moved your post to the relevant sub-forum.

Just did a little research I think that they are NOT hollow as they have rubber valves and when I feel the back of the spoke they are
Significantly recessed they have a number of raised lines above the spoke
Not certain I guess Hollow is a good thing

I presume if I take them of I'll find something that helps to identify them I had no idea how many versions there are I was just hopeful they had some value to put towards the same

Hi Carl and welcome along.

Impact bumpers is probably a better site for your age of car (although it's always nice to see them on here too).

Looking at your wheels and your tyre sizes confirm it, they are 17s.
The genuine twist alloys whether hollow or solid spoke are an 18 inch wheel, hence your wheels aren't genuine Porsche and are aftermarket.

I'm afraid you aren't going to recoup much towards your Fuchs unfortunately, especially given the fact they need a refurb too, if they're going on a tidy car.

Your best bet will be to remove them and list them on EBay with all relevant information. So size (17" obviously) plus widths both front and back then make sure you state the offset. The impact bumper cars ran way lower offsets than the 964 onwards cars so they aren't much good.

Hopefully you'll maybe get a VW owner who wants the Porsche look as is often the way, however they usually want larger diameter wheels.

Who knows though. Once a buyer knows the above info they can decide if they'll go on their car. Unless the tyres are very new and very good though I wouldn't expect more than a few hundred pounds. Even genuine solid spoke versions in 18" are barely worth about £300 per set.

Sorry if that's a bit less than you'd hoped, but hey, your car NEEDS Fuchs on there, so definitely worth pushing the boat out. :thumb:
