Would you buy a 996tt with very little service history?

I'm looking for my first Porsche, a 996 turbo. Obviously a FSH is recommended but would you consider buying one with no or very little service history? Obviously the price would be discounted because of this issue.

Specifically it's a 2001 with only 4 stamps in the book (the last is very recent).

Personally no BUT at the right price I can't see why someone braver than me wouldn't. However if it's manual a rev range report would be crucial. I'd want someone who knows how they should perform and drive generally to come with me.

The key thing would be to properly assess the current mechanical condition of the car. There's plenty of experts out there that would do that for you although unfortunately it might not be possible to do it in great detail until after the car has been purchased.

Once purchased it is sometimes possible, but quite a slow process, to piece together the history of the car so that future resaleability might be improved.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yes, I would consider it. Stamps don't mean the whole world though obviously the more the better. Previous owner may have done some work himself. As you say, if lack of history has been reflected in the price, then the question to ask is how much? A green light from a PPI and sub £20k would tempt me if I was in the market.

It's actually advertised at 22k but there's no way I'd pay that. I would also be looking to pay sub 20k because of the history, or lack of. I am only considering this particular car because I love the colour - Zanzibar (though I've yet to see it in the flesh). I'd originally budgeted at around the 25k mark.

I'm currently away in a very dirty, dusty and smelly place and not due to return for another 3 months. I'd ruled out the car because of this but as it keeps coming back up for sale it has caught my interest and it may become a possibility. It's on eBay for those of you wondering.
