Would a failed mount cause more vibration when idling?

I fitted some engine mounts in April, OEM "quality" and on the last few drives I've noticed at idle the car has quite a lot of vibration. The driver side mount has dropped and I suspect that this is related to the increase vibration at idle?
Thx

Could well be the mount failing. Don't leave this as it is massively frightening if one lets go while you are driving and the engine dropping can cause collateral damage to suspension, drive shafts and braking system. Fit proper Porsche OEM ones.

Which mounts did you fit? Minimum part warranty is usually 12 months.
Thanks for this, I went with the aftermarket ones from type911. I’ve mailed type911 and they’ve said they I can return them and I’ll get refund a week later. I’ll most likely go with the Porsche ones when replacing.

I’m already on it and I’m getting a refund. I’ve also noticed that the engine has dropped as the exhaust tips are a lot lower on the drive side. I installed the mounts at the end of April and have probably don’t about 4K miles.

Well I guess that accounts for the weird vibration and the low exhaust tip.
I replaced both mounts with Porsche mounts.

They were £200 from type911, I’ll see if I can find a link.
I’m sure they’re the same quality as lost of others like Febi etc, I think I was just unlucky.

The markings suggest to me they are probably OEM, I think you have indeed just had the most awful luck.

@Bigbaddog997, OEM as in the manufacturer that Porchse uses for their Porsche branded mounts?

Yes, this is a photo of an original Porsche and an OEM mount it is about to be replaced with. Note the markings and small holes. I note you have the same code printed under the penetrating oil as well.

Wow, in 20 years and 100k miles the OEM mounts gradually stretch but they don’t break like that. I’ve just changed 3 on my 997’s - I wouldn’t want to do the job again, so best to do it right the first time even though they’re very expensive at the dealer.

It does happen. Many people in here have had original mounts fail.

I documented my DIY replacement of my engine mounts with new Spyder Performance mounts few months ago. See below:

Well, I took my car to Center Gravity yesterday and it appears the Spyder Performance mounts might have been a false economy. CG noticed straight away that my engine was bouncing way more than it should when they put the car on their vibrating pads to check the condition of the shock absorbers. I’ll be booking the car into CG to have some suspension work done, and they will properly test the engine mounts then. Right now it’s looking like I’ll need to replace them again but with OEM mounts 😢
