This is something of a strange post but I'm looking for some help making this decision.

I have looked at the car below, had a few runs and done the usual checks. It has a full Porsche main dealer service history with all receipts and worksheets. I have spoken to the dealer and the report is positive.

The car has gone to the following garage for a ppi, http://www.autohauswerkshoppe.co.uk/index.cfm (owner is ex chairman of the Porsche Club).

Warranty wise its a standard 3 month limited scheme.

I'm waiting for the computer check on Monday, but the physical inspection has been very good.

I realise I am breaking all the rules and will it end in tears!

Please don't lay into me too much, but good advice would be great.

Thanks

What rules are you breaking?

Hi Mini-me, I guess I'm breaking the following rules:

Not a Porsche specialist.
No decent warranty.
No physical bore test.

To name a few!

I got only a 3 month warranty and can answer no to the other two points.
I didn't pay top dollar either.
You pay the lower amount of money (with reasonable care) and take your chance.
I don't expect my engine to let go any time soon and I'm not worried either.
Regards.

After reading the full sales review, on the link you posted, I get the distinct impression that they are describing a 997.2 whilst selling a 997.1?

Which do you think you will be buying... :?:

Hi John

Its a 997.1 they used a gen 2 article within the sales documents, goodness knows why.

Hi,

Looks like a great car with a very good spec. I had a boxster in the same colour and absolutely loved it. I think if the checks come back ok then I would buy it if it ticks all your boxes. Once you have owned it for 90 days you can get an opc warranty put on the car.

When I bought my first Porsche I bought from a dealer that was not a specialist and it all worked out fine. If I was you I'd go for it.

I've always broken all the rules and gone for colour and whether it feels "right" on the test drive! Then make sure you get an official Porsche warranty.

Car looks to be in pristine condition and is very well specced (includes centre console in body colour, sport adaptives and MFSW amongst others). Also the low milage helps too.

If you are subjecting this car to checks, then as long as those give it the green light, it's a buyer imo. Hoping you get this; I am sure it is not going to hang about for too long.

Thanks Fox terrier and Maxie for your comments.

What does MFSW stand for?

I'm guessing multi functional steering wheel!

Thanks for your help and advise, I've put the deposit on the car, pick up Wednesday.
