Well if anything is going to break on your 993, you don't expect it to be this...!

That's the last time I ever decide to wash it, maybe a wheel will fall off next time.

Nothing surprises me with these cars any more !

But who needs a rear wiper anyway - it spoils the lines.

Have you had the "self-disconnecting" door release linkage yet? (The little plastic connectors wear out & then the metal rod pops out. Its a door panel-off job to fix).

Thankfully, no, not yet, but give it time!

It looks to me that the whole wiper assembly will need replacing...££££ I suspect

Hi Phil -

I had exactly the same problem on my rear wiper, the same break in the arm at the same place - obviously a design fault. I didn't even get a quote for the part though, because I saw this article -

http://p-car.com/diy/rearwiper/

I removed the rear wiper as described and saved the bucks, also the 5lb weight and I also think it looks much better!

The only time I miss it is if you park in the rain, but the rear demister does a reasonable job of clearing the vision. While moving rain does not settle.

Many thanks for the link LJ - That looks so much better - I shall do the same.

Where did you source all the bits from?

Phil, All I bought was a grommet pack of 3 from Halfords. I think they were 24mm but can't be sure. You need one in the rear parcel shelf and another in the rear window. Total cost around £1 for the cheapest performance/looks upgrade ever.

The DIY guy put a grommett in the rear window and then put a washer on either side and a nut and bolt through it - undoubtably more secure but I thought it would look scrappy and so just went with the plain old grommet and it works perfectly.
