Why are these Cayman's so hard to locate with good spec?

I have been looking for a 2010 Gen II Cayman for the past 2 months with not much luck. I have a budget of £35k and would love to locate Black, black wheels PDK (if poss) very low mileage as i will hammer this over the next 2 years approx 40k.

or am i just being fussy? :?:

they're too good to sell :)

Why bother paying a premium for low mileage if you are going to put 20k a year on it?

Get one with 20-40k for a lot less and than £35k and you will lose less in the long run. It will probably have been uised for motorway work rather than a lower mileage car which has been hammered every sunny Sunday morning.

There are 29 black Caymans less than 3 years old for sale on Autotrader at the moment.

What's the problem?

I would guess, yes you are.... :?:

On the other hand, that's a reasonably well specced car OC has pulled out though I would balk at £5k for colour coding, though you could always negotiate with him because he's a reasonable chap. :D

Perhaps he wasn't looking on Autotrader, just in the papershop window.

:)

I see it was your first post.

Yes i have checked out Auto trader, but i need the 3.4 and with a good spec ans the correct wheels i.e. Turbo style not just a run of the mill, needs to be GEN II. Also would like to make sure it has FULL PSH not just some back strret guy working on it and stamping the book!

Orange Curry 5K for a spray on the wheels, I think not Also i think that you are pushing your luck!

Ah we have more requirements! A 3.4 is it?

That one was a GEN II, and as I like you I'll do the wheels for 4k.

In all seriousness, you can pick up the wheels you like any day of the week.

There are 12 black 3.4s just on autotrader.

Why not this one?

3.4 2010

35k GBP seems a crazy amount to spend on a car that is 5% better than an older 3.4 for only 25k GBP :dont know:

3.4 2007 9.5k miles

or this one for half that at 17k GBP
3.4 2006 40k miles

The Gen II engine is worth the extra for peace of mind as well as more power and a sharper response.

If the OP wants PDK then the Gen I can't offer this and the later PCM is much better. The chassis and ride will be similar but the Gen II is a better car.

Just get the paddle wheel, one came on ebay today for £560 which is a fair price.

Well - first off : the Cayman is after all the lowest seller in the Porsche range so there are by definition less of any given model. Black wheels are something of an acquired taste and are far from common on Caymans (and where specified, in my experience it is the white cars that are the majority of those fitted with them). Frankly as a buying criteria on a used car I think it is a bit daft - there are plenty of places (including OPCs) that will be more than happy to take your money and paint them for you if it is that important.

I don't think that buying a low mileage car to put miles on makes a lot of sense either - you will be paying a premium for low mileage which by definition you will not get back at resale so surely anything up to about 30k on the clock ought to be sensible as long as the price is right?

It is obviously your money, but I think that you are burning a lot of value by being picky - especially with wheels as just about the easiest thing on a car to swap or re-colour once you have it.

Well done, OPC warranty is a bonus, make sure they check the bores to give it a clear bill of health before you take it away.

Also get a readout to see if there have been any over-revs and in what ranges.

The spec is pretty loaded with the carbon and aluminium etc. :thumb:

Hope you love it as much as I love mine. Best move i made, 911 to Cayman.

Who would have though it :?: :?: :?:
