usa spec

aa2 is the us vsd code the next digit should be a letter

the first vsd letter is a body type a c or d, coupe cab or targa

the second letter a= two wheel drive, b 4 wheel srive

third digit is o seat belts, 1 driver airbag, 2 driver & passenger air bag

I did try to give you a bell knowing that you'd already demonstrated your insight on an 'ebay horror' as I remember. (also to offer the Olive branch if necessary after my gravy comment !! :oops: ) I'm possibly looking at a 996 and the VIN number threw me as it doesnt have lots of ZZZ's in as is the norm throughout Europe. After posting this, I did a quick check and found the sequences match in characters exactly with cars on Porsche NA OPC sites. So I know that it was originally specced for USA. Hopefully will see it on saturday.
