Hello

Have just got my 1983 911 Turbo but no owner manuals with it. Was wondering what the best or recommended engine oil would be as it is running slightly low.

Thanks

Ronnie

I don't have a manual but I think Mobil 1 is the recommended oil. With regards to weight, something like 15W40.

You definitely don't want to go for a fully synthetic oil - older engines need a certain amount of organic material in them to bung up the holes ! If you put synthetic oil in it will disolve 20 years of accumulated goo and you engine might end up leaking like a sieve or losing oil pressure !

It was designed to be used with the best oils of the early 80's ie top line organics and early semi-synthetics, so this is what you should use today.

Not as Jamie rightly says the modern synthetics.
