Which car care regime for me?

Which range of care care products would you reccomend for me. I have to park the car off street and will only get to wash it maybe once in every 3-4 weeks, though I could take a white towel to it more often if needed. Main consideration is ease of application and long lasting effect rather than ultimate shine.

Main choises I guess are Zimol, Zaino Migures (spelling?), Autoglym, and Mer.

Cheers

Meguiares - no question.

Just did my 993 Zenith blue with Meguiares qwik clay and NXT polimer to follow up - stunning and a fraction of the time the £250 plastic case full of Zymol would have taken.
If anyone wants my Zymol for half price they can have it.

Meguiares Quik clay kit - 11 quid super fast and easy - just unreal!
Meguiares NXT polimer 14 quid. Lasts and lasts and you can do the car in 30 minutes.

The shine was so good when I parked it outside the Co-Op I nearly fell over looking back at it...

...What do you have Stevo, I've got thousands of Zymol customers who would be interested - PM me your list of products please.

Meguiares seems to be the latest thing. Yes, plenty cheaper than Zymol, but there's a reason for that.

In terms of duribility, protection and overall depth of shine, Meguiares falls far short of Zymol. A lot of people can't be bothered (or don't understand) how to apply Zymol correctly, and like anything, if you don't do it properly, it ain't gonna work.

As always, we are all going to argue this one to death.

Manskter - I see you live in Surrey - I can demo Zymol to you and show you the entire range of products, I'm in Weybridge.

Alternatively, we have a stand at the Auto Italia event THIS SATURDAY where we'll be proving that there really is no substiture for Zymol!

I lost my zymol virginity 2 weekends ago. After much use over that weekend and last weekend (including a couple of runs in the wet stuff), she would normally by now, be looking a little dusty/dirty but I have to say I'm very surprised. I popped into the garage last night (beer and wine fridge) and could'nt resist a letch and a fondle. No rain streaks, no dust, just a gorgeous gleam. I cant speak for meguires or the others but I know I wont be going back to the halfords F1 turtle kit.

no contest, zymol

Meguiars - Some good products, some not so good. Will give a good shine but found it did not last long

Zaino - Brilliant, but grossly overpriced here in the UK.

Zymol - Expensive and gives excellent results, but is not as durable.

Autoglym - Has a really bad press in the UK but seems to be well recieved in the US

Have not used the rest.

As always this is my opinion and I have tried a lot of detailing products and am speaking from experience. Would say that no one manufacturer has all the best products and the way to get a truly superb finish that lasts means using different products for the different stages of car preperation that takes into consideration cost, ease of use and availability.

There, did not side with any one manufacturer, must be a first :D

I've been a long time Megs and AG fan... used their Gold Class for quite a while and it gave brilliant, if not short lived, results. Not the easiest to take off mind you.

AG Super Resin (SRP) is excellent, but I'd never use it more than 3-4 times a year because it's quite abrasive. Stunning results tho'.

Recently I tried the new AG "Ultra Deep Shine" on my ocean blue... WOW. Give it a try - it gives amazing colour depth and smells great too!

All these products are relatively cheap, and I enjoy cleaning the car on a regular basis as part of my weekend therapy. I can't help but feel the results and effort outweigh the cost of Zymol...

I'd used AG for years and would swear by nothing else, but after reading a review of the Zymol products in GT Purely Porsche & viewing some of the cars on the zdouk.co.uk website I've switches allegiances.

IMHO the Zymol products are far superior to the AG ones. My father worked in the motor trade for 30 years (predominantly accident repairs on prestige brands) and he was the biggest sceptic around about Zymol, yet even he comment on how good my car (A4 Avant) looked after it's first Zymol treatment. Yes it expensive & yes it's hard work but I personally feel that the results are worthwhile.

As Glynn at Specialist Car pointed out "it's like washing silk" when you clean a Zymol'd car.

I'm keeping my Atlantique glaze for when I get my 993 !

I've tried all sorts (but not Meguiars or Zaino) and I've not found anything that gives the results of, and is as pleasant to use as Zymol. The glaze may cost loads, but a tub lasts years.

I use Meguiar.

Zymol? Not for me. My results with Meguiar's rival those of Zymol at 1/5 their price. I spend the difference on good wine

Some claims are snake oil based. Getting a great car shine is more about the process than it is about the product. IMO of course.

it looks freshly painted or wet - a really good finish.

My car is silver so it doesnt seem to get that wet look/ depth of shine..............phil any ideas?

I could recommend my detailer, but I then I remembered you're in Switzerland! Though if you can cover his expenses....

As with most things, if you have the time then amazing results are possible, though it helps if the paint is in good condition to start with...
