Been searching, but advice seems to conflict. Which cable would enable me to charge i phone or i pod, and still have headunit functionality? Apparently some cables will work but you cannot operate i pod via Becker CDR 22.

Becker CDR22 has an aux in on the back of it, however you cannot use that and a CD changer at the same time.

Simple solution: get an aux in cable for mini-iso connectors (blaupunkt, some VW, becker...) for less than a fiver, and get a 12v iPod charger. You will need to set the head unit to aux in rather than CD, but that's 2 minutes' work:
Turn radio ON Press and hold the TP button for about 8 seconds, until Becker 1 is displayed. Turn the Tuning Knob until AUX OFF is displayed. Press either button located directly under the Arrows on the display to change the present setting from OFF to ON. Turn radio OFF. Auxiliary Audio Input has now been activated.

I added one of these because I wanted to keep the Becker head unit (all modern aftermarket stereos look a bit Sh*t in the 996 IMO) . Works really well and you can control the ipod through the head unit:

ive just been to halfords to check this problem out

i wanted to link my ipod to the sound system

the info i remembers

you can link to back of head unit with some form of splitter. but the sound will not go through the amp but go direct to speakers.

as the amp is in the front wires need to go through the fire wall to be wired correctly.

i looked at Parrot colour screen with the i pod fitted in the lockable arm rest.
you an control from the screen both music and phone calls. screen also shows album covers etc.

over all cost was going to be about £550 pending which extention lead was required it may drop by £40 quid

hope this is some help, i cant make up my mind what to do.
love the standard head unit but feel £550 is a bit much just for wire.

what control do you have over the ipod with this system. this has got my interest

Basically you can access playlists, or go direct from the iPod.

No track display or anything like that, but you can skip through tracks using the knob on the right of the CDR22, much as you would with a CD.

I really like it, I plumbed it into the lower tray in my centre console and use a little IPod nano which I leave in the car. I use this and a parrot visor Bluetooth thing so that I've got iPod and Bluetooth but keep the OEM look of the cabin.

*Edited to state that I'm not sure if ths works with Bose- mine is a non-Bose car.

aux cable.
