Wheel spacers - Gen 2 C4s - any downsides?

Thanks for this @plavix, really helpful info! I have an appointment with CG at 3pm today and great to have a benchmark to discuss with them. With that said, although I like to know exactly what’s going on, I will be going with whatever the guys at CG recommend - they are the experts after all 😃
Absolutely agree. What was the outcome? I really should pop up and see them.
They are not race cars :)
Don't let the GT section hear you say that.

Also, since the 997 there was an option code, XRP, for 5mm spacers. Perhaps someone in the GT area may correct me, but the 997.1 GT3 came as standard with a rear 5mm spacer from factory, which could not be deleted. There were also some special wheel options for the 996 that came with mental spacers, I'm thinking 20mm from memory; again from factory. What differentiates the factory spacer from most aftermarket spacers, is they they are screwed to the disc hub; very much as your disc is screwed to your wheel carrier.

What a lovely bunch of guys up at CG yesterday. Pete, Chris and Ben were all fantastic and made me feel really welcome. Pete’s attention to detail was second to none as he spent hours checking and measuring everything on my car whilst explaining everything as he went along. He’s worked on hundreds of 997s so was in a great position to compare my car to what he considers a benchmark good setup. It looks like my car has never had a full geo since factory new 16 years ago, but the good news is there isn’t anything fundamentally wrong with it as it stands. With that said, there are some components that are just about ready for replacement due to age and plenty of opportunity to optimise the setup as it’s currently pulling to the right very slightly, and shimmies more than it should on bumpy B roads which saps confidence when pushing on - all things that can be fixed when I take it back to them for the work to be carried out. It turns out that my car has actually settled around 11-14mm lower than factory spec, but we agreed the right setup for me would be Eibach Pro lowering springs with a DSC controller. Pete said he could get my rear shocks modified to reduce the front end rake that the Eibach’s introduce as I prefer a more level stance.

I’m awaiting an estimate from Holly which I should get early next week. 🤞🏽the damage (as in to my wallet) will be okay so that I can get the car booked in over winter.

Mines booked in at CG end of October and can not wait .

I have previously used them on my b5 rs4 and m3s and can't recommend them enough.

They are proper geo nerds that change good to exceptional!

I've just installed 7 and 15mm spacers. I checked in with Holly at CG, as they have geo'd my two cars, and was told 7 and 15mm are fine but that this is the maximum that they suggest.

Also thanks to person that posted about getting a balance completed with the spacers on! It makes so much sense.

You're welcome, but I need to thank @Nimbus2b technically.
