What to go for….

The turbo is deffo a different beast than the carrera. Most would put it in the 'supercar' bracket. For me, if you can afford the turbo - get one.

Your budget is creeping well in to the gen 2 997 bracket, so if maintenance cost and peace of mind is more your game, I'd be getting in to one of those.

+1

It's really personal though, see I'd have a 996 Turbo all day long rather than a 997.2 C2S, but I'd struggle to put forward any argument that the 996T is a better car in any way, other than I think they're ace.

Thanks again for all the input. 997.2 CS vs 996T. I know we don’t have a crystal ball - but what will hold value better in your opinion?

I don't think either will change in value that much. They've both bottomed out and bounced back to where they are now.

Both will be equally affected by any changes in the overall car market.

996 turbo undervalued IMO. Probably due to higher maintenance costs. I’d go 996 turbo. The one rebuilt by RPM sounds nice. Buyers market maybe call 9e, JZM, RPM etc and ask them if any of their clients looking to sell a good 996 turbo ;)

Hard to call it between those two, the 997.2 might end up being surprising, the 997 is now being touted as a modern classic because they fixed the headlights and made it the last analogue 911, so it might end up doing well.
It's an easy to live with classic inoffensive Porsche 911.

The 996T is a classic but it's very dated in looks and you have to really want one, its polarising, some people still can't live with the lights, and maintenance might be an issue.

What's wrong with a well looked after 996 C4S? Brilliant car, find one that needs a rebuild, buy it cheap, get it done by Mr Hart, drive it and enjoy.
Put the spare change away for repairs.

Or this! I know it’s a lot for an older car in this current climate…. But looks immaculate! He’s firm at that price though.

Is that polar silver?

It's difficult to tell from those photos but as it's an early car I'd say it's more likely to be Arctic.

Mine was Polar. This photo shows how 'blue' Polar is. In some lights it looked much lighter and more silver.

Thanks - yes, with that as a reference point it does look like arctic. Mine was arctic and did not look quite like the X50 but I guess i didnt polish it for resale ever day!
