Werk96 996 upgrade

Watched this last night..... sounded fabulous...and that gearbox.......!!!!

Love the stance too.... just seems like a perfect car.

Not sure i'd be sitting that close to the wheel though.

It does sound great, I think I was more impressed by the gearshifts though! They sound so precise, I wonder what they changed. Sounds like more that just fitting a Numeric (or similar) shifter. On their website they say it's a 'W96 KGT' - not sure what that is

I didn't find their website that informative really.... would love to have an idea on cost to convert .

I got the impression it was in-house development.

Did he also say in the video that the engine is being enlarged again, to 4.4?

It’s going to be a 4.3 next up which just sounds fabulous. It would be interesting to know how much is done in house and what’s off the shelf. For example that exhaust sounds amazing

And after the video footage, the engine is going to be "torn down" and rebuilt to a normal aspirated 4.3 litre, with 450 BHP.
It does ask the question, how much bigger can the engine be made without compromsing the reliability. I suspect turbo's put a lot of strain on the engine, and therefore they have not gone down that road.
If you listen to the cars, they have a slow up change in sound, it for me is a very pleasing sound, its a characteristic that straight away, you dont have to see what car it is, you know what car it is by that glorious sound track.
That gearbox, is a typical race car sound, almost a straight cut gear sound, I suspect the ratio's have been married up to the road it was being tested on, as would any car developed for a particular race circuit.
I have watched it twice now and it gives me good feeling that buying a Porsche was a good choice.

I understood the engine was rebuilt in house as well, and will be taken out to a 4.3. I'd like to learn more about the suspension, but what a machine - and such a lovely side profile!

I got bitten by the double-post bug

I would've expected a shorter throw on the gearstick, or a sequential box...... scratch that, just watched it again and it is pretty short.
