Wedding Ribbon on a 997

I have been asked to play chauffeur to my friend's sister this Saturday. The 911 will be the Wedding Car, taking the bride to the Church in the morning.

Question is.... has anyone used a Porsche as a wedding car before? Where is the best place to tie the customary wedding ribbon?

I am thinking of attaching it to the latch of the front bonnet and tying the ends to the wing mirrors. Any suggestions appreciated.

Alternatively, you could use the sun visors to attach the ribbons to and then, as you suggest, fix through the bonnet latch. This would give the ribbon a bolder look when the car is viewed from the front as the wedding venue is approached, slightly more distracting from a driving perspective though.

Hope the day goes well.

Exactly what I did to my car when I drove myself to my wedding. Tie the ends through the gap in the wing mirror supports, but then I used a wash bag filled with heavy bottles and tied the other ends to that, then dumped the bag in the frunk and closed the lid. I felt the ribbon could interfere with the latch mechanism otherwise, plus it made it a lot easier to get the ribbon to do up nice and tight as opposed to flapping everywhere.

Looked ace, if I do say so myself :)

How did this work, exactly? Sorry to ask what may seem like an ignorant question, but a heavy washbag in the frunk sounds a little tricky.

You could use anything you wanted really: Tie the ribbons to a small rock, or the spare bottle of oil, or whatever. I just happened to have a small washbag to hand with a couple of bottles of shampoo in it that was heavy enough to hold the ribbons down in the frunk, so that's what I used!

It was a lot easier than trying to tie it round the latches, that much I do remember.

Open boot lid, thread ribbon through catch (check it's not dirty first), tie ends of ribbon to the sun visor ends with a wee bit of slack, shut boot lid and all tightens up nicely. Looks marvellous.

This worked for my cousins wedding, even with a short blat down the road it was remarkably secure. And bow's can be looped through the boot lid catch too if needs be.

Hope the day goes well!

I used my for my wedding and tied an elastic loop round the bonnet catch.

I also tied the ribbons to the rear hooks as I found tieing to the sun visors made the ribbons too lose.

Might have some pictures somewhere

As ever, thanks all. The pic of the Turbo looks great Martian!

I will try to remember to snap and upload after the big day. It's nice to have a small part to play at ones wedding. Aaaah <sigh>

Looks great :thumb:

Didn't realise the wedding was in Australia though ;)

Word of warning though don't leave it there for too long mine scratched a big v in my bonnet thanks to dust and the ribbon blowing in the wind... Nothing that did not polish out but it was about 4 hours work I didn't need
