VTS question...

Picked up my GTS last night :D and got a text from an unknown mobile number this morning saying it's been activated. I've got 2 fobs but can't seem to turn one of them off, should they both be active? I'd have thought if they both were active, then even with one fob with me it will alert Cobra, as one would be with me at all times but the other wouldn't?

I've searched for ways to try and turn one of them off and just says to hold down the button but no joy, still have the flashing red light.

The way I think it works is that when the car is in motion it has to have a fob in proximity otherwise it sends an alert.

My second fob sits home alone.

If you bought the car from an OPC they should have faxed paperwork to Cobra.

It is an annual subscription so if you had VTS on a previous car Cobra will transfer your account to the new vehicle, if not you'll need to pay c£220.

I always have both dongles switched on else they have to be reassigned when switched back on, and like whacko77uk I keep the second dongle at home and away from the second set of keys.

Batteries are CR2032 and last about 18 months so depending on first reg date, you might want to replace them.

Also, the fob needs to be further from the car than you may think: Mine is around 8m away through two brick walls and still works if I move the car without picking the fob up!

Thanks, I completed the paperwork at the OPC yesterday and paid the fee. I'll call Cobra and talk it through with them but sounds like all ok. Thanks for the info on the batteries too :thumb:
