Vital 993 Parts

What if your car was filled with Shell Helix at the factory? :dont know:

I have never seen a 993 with a Shell Helix Sticker under the lid.

I thought that Porsche exclusively recommended Mobil 1 at the time that they were producing 993's, as the original stickers state.
Wasn't Shell Helix pre 993.

964 were filled with Shell :thumb:

Wow!

You must immediately lodge those with a trustworthy solicitor or a specialist automotive museum for future generations to enjoy.

Or I could save one to go in a glass case for the garage wall and put the others on ebay

Shell Helix not Mobil 1

"I have never seen a 993 with a Shell Helix Sticker under the lid. "

Well my 993 does, it's just by the courtesy light in the engine lid.

The presence of a Helix sticker, plus the fact that on my 993 there is no residual evidence (shadowing or adhesive witness) that there was ever a Mobil 1 sticker fitted in its typical place, is why I have held off fitting a Mobil sticker.

Any other 993ers on here have a Shell Helix sticker on the underside of their engine lid?

I've seen a few. I wonder if there was a date-change or whether it was up to individual OPCs. :dont know:

I suspect that these would have been very early cars, pre varioram & wb. Most likely 93 production year when Porsche ceased production of the 964 and began producing the 993.

Nope...1996 Varioram.

That makes sense as my 1993 968 CS has Shell Helix stickers.

Interesting, mine has an old shell sticker and its a late 95 pre-V.

Also just noticed a sticker telling me when to check the oil, do they all have that??

I think so....anyway mine does have that sticker in the same place so I reckon it's standard.

Standard Sticker, 964 006 111 00. Still available from the internet or your local OPC for around £3 :thumb:

Looking at the first pic you do have a cap nut missing, looks like there is some tape covering the hole under the plastic cover, part number 999 590 036 40. There should be four that hold the plastic cover in place, cost peanuts from your local OPC.

I just replaced the 4 on mine as they had witness marks from ham fisted removals in the past.

Thanks for this Dom B, I will make a note of it and get some next time I order something...

Cheers,
Lig.

Anyone found a code for this? It's the one thing missing on mine!
