Car did not start today , 3-4 weeks since i last drove it.
All lite up like it should just not turning the starter. As luck would have it , i did have the same fault 18 months ago. Opc exeter sorted it after the car was recovered to them on a low loader.
A flat battery in the VTS fob. A quick replace with a new cr2032 and it fired right up.
Really pleased i fixed it but i dont subscribe to the vts/cobra so dont really understand how it can affect the car. :dont know:

The whole point is that the car can be started and driven without the vts

So the fob battery should make no difference

I hear what your saying , i didn't get it the first time , but now its happened twice. :dont know:

I have no idea about the tech side of it but it has done it twice now. 24 months apart which is the life span of the tracker fob battery. When i spoke to cobra/tracker about it the first time they said it shouldn't happen , but i will phone them again to check . Opc exeter were 100% sure thats what it was.

The car will start and drive without a VTS fob present, so that isn't the problem.

More likely is the transponder in the car key. It may be that the key unlock button has been pressed several times out of range of the car so they are no longer in sync, especially if you've not used the car for a long time - the key/car can be re-synced again but unfortunately I'm not sure of the exact sequence to do this... :dont know:

chimp, thanks for input . I am going to take the battery out of the vts fob and retest just to see what happens . Your right it shouldn't stop the car from starting and both car keys seem to be 100% fine lock, unlock and start the car.
