Umm. What's this I pulled from under my GT3?

Saw this hanging from under the rear of my GT3 today and pulled it out. What is it? It's like steel wool, but more brittle and crumbley. Was just hanging off loosely, just came off with a gentle tug. Is it something I picked up somehow off the road or has it come off the car somewhere? :dont know:

Its the stuff thats on the edge of the heat shields between exhaust and PU, bit like a metal draft excluder but its a heat excluder, found some under mine a while ago.

Looks like it came from the chin of a 993 owner. There were plenty around yesterday. :grin:

Is it extra baffling that somebody used to get through the noise test. :?:

..Were there any mice droppings in the mesh...lol ?

No worries, when you removed the bumper to change to the X pipe, no doubt
some of it probably came loose, you have to clip it back in place (there are
a couple of bend-able metal clips in situ to hold it in place). :thumb:

@ T8, yes I did notice a fair bit of that yesterday.... I reckon GT4 was too busy growing his to attend.. :grin:

Senoj, Nick - cheers - no, no mice droppings lol! Will get fixed asap (not too keen on rear PU melting off at Silverstone next month!). Will also get the OPC to sort that front creaking noise, it's still happening, and was annoying me a bit yesterday...

You are in for one hell of a ride if it's a girl GT3.


Just some sound (if brittle plastic) or heat (if woven metal) deadening.

I should imagine your car will be up in flames momentarily, so this is a one time offer: £25k and you deliver.
