I have been umming and ahhing about getting a Porsche as a second car ie mine, for months now. I would like a Boxster as I have driven one and was smitten. I have never driven a 911 but it would be useful as I would be able to get the kids in the back, the big but being that it would be a much older model than the Boxsters I have been looking at.Now to the prices.I would be wary of buying private but the OPCs mark up on second hand models seems somewhat steep but I suppose I would be buying peace of mind.To be honest though, the prices they are charging are equivalent to, if not higher than, the price of a new one with the options I want.Talked to a Saleswomen the other day about a 987 with:Metallic PaintWind DeflectorClimate ControlPartial Leatherand the price was about £35k which seems a bargain compared to the secondhand ones that I have seen.Sensibly I should be spending around £20k but this is in private sales with all the pitfalls of a much older, higher mileage car and, now it seems to me a problem but am I being fussy, a plastic rear window. Is having one of these the nightmare that I have read about. Boxster chop, having to get out of the car to lower the roof, marks and fogging etc.The spending less option is also a good idea in that the car will be parked on the street and will suffer damage unfortunately.Much that I would love to pick up the phone and order a shiney new 987, it would make me sick to the heart when it gets it's first parking bump, keying, slashed roof etc.Sorry to bend everyones ears but the wife won't listen to me going on about it anymore so any feedback will be gratefully appreciated. Oh and I know this is a 911 forum but I did mention one a few paragraphs ago.
Oh and as an afterthought does anybody know if the new 987 has the ability to turn off the passenger airbags so that I could take one of the children in the car.Cheers
