Brilliant charger/conditioner called Optimate. Even recovers deeply discharged batteries. Comes with variety of connectors. Very good bit of kit, and loads normally available on Ebay, or do a Google search for uk supplier.

About £39.95 normally

Hey Phil, Can you supply me one of those, but with a Swiss plug on the end ? :)

only driving the 996 once a week at the moment and the battery went as flat as a pancake as a result. Spoke to OPC and they said you need to drive the car every day to keep battery charged - how realistic is that?!!

Anyway to the point. Tried to get a Ctek MX3600 with cigarette charger locally and couldn't. Phoned Vertar lunchtime yesterday. In stock, arrived this morning. Waived the postage (cause I asked). Very efficient and polite. I guess what I'm saying is beat that for service!

Not sure how good the charger will turn out to be, but from all the awards and feedback hopefully it will be as good as Vertar....

the saga continues :(

Left the Ctek plugged in for 14 hours - went to start the car this morning and dead as a dodo. Called out Porsche service and the guy from the RAC duly arrived. He used his battery pack to start the car, but even if we left the car running for 20 minutes when the ignition was turned off it would not fire again.

He said I need to leave the car charging for 2-3 days and this should bring back the battery, although he said a 2 year old battery should not fail like this.

So to the question - is the above bull? Are batteries covered under extended warranty?
