Did anyone see Top Gear last night?

Awesome GT3 ! Quicker than the Turbo 4 they tested last series.

I wonder if this was because the Turbo was a member of the public's car and the Stig was taking it easy?

Anyway, it would have been nice to have seen the run in the dry.

Yes. I saw it. They were seriously impressed weren't they. I just got pissed off when they harked on about how bad the older 911s were. I guess the myth of undriveable 911s before the 964/993 just won't go away.

I'd never really given the GT3 much consideration before, but after watching that, hmmm...

Poon, if you've got Sky, they might be repeating it on UK Horizons

Out of interest, what are the differences between the new GT3 and the previous model (apart from cosmetics)?

Noize

These are the differences I can remember of the top of my head:-

Brakes - The Mk2 has larger discs and calipers at the front, the calipers are 6pots as opposed to 4pot.

Chassis - The Mk2 is based on a 996 C4 shell rather than the C2 Shell for the Mk1, this is due to the C4 shell been stiffer

Engine - About 20HP increase in power, this was mainly acheived via lighter engine internals

Wheels - Change from Sports Design Wheels , not sure what they call the new GT3 wheel

Body - Odviously different spoilers all round

Thats all I can rememeber....

Cheers Sean

Did the Mk1 have the ceramic brakes as well?

Migration info. Legacy thread was 9874

No, and on the Mk2 they are an extra cost option (about another £6k I think)

Yo dudes computer was broken. GT3 engine costs 40k, so how much does the rest of the car cost? Not more than 20k I should imagine.

Martin Kemp obviously hasn't got a clue about porsches. I also heard someone say today ''They have engines in the front and the back, don't they?'' and somebody said a 360 which was next to our bus was a porsche. Some people...

Noize I live in Reading too, whereabouts are you? Or are you the one who lives in Wargrave...

BTW our next porsche is a GT3.

6K for ceramic discs!!!!! cripes! I'd want to stop, granted, but I think you'd have to be a very keen track enthusiast (or just plain loaded) to tick that option.

Noony

Hope you chucked the PC (Piece of Crap) and got a mac!

Didn't your Dad tell you that too much porn is bad for your hard drive!
