Feature in this weeks autocar on buying a super car for £25K

The expert advice given by Mr Firman tells us we can buy an excellent example for £25K, that we can run for about £500 a year

On checking his website he has 11 993's

the cheapest is £27K, and most are over 30K

Does he prsctise what he preaches?

Does he speak from the mouth or somewhere else?

Just because he says £25k doesnt mean everything he stocks has to sell at £25k!
Methinks you are a little too negative here.
There are plenty of excellent cars for 25k and less elsewhere.
So just who is talking out of HIS arse?

I don't think i'm unreasonable in saying that If you're looking for a good 993 you should think about having a budget of £30K,you will probably spend a little moreget a PPI doneand you could easily spend £2-4K to bring a car up to scratchif you find a car for £25K make sure you a reserve fund

you are a trader and he is a trader - that explains it.

I would have to agree with these point, saw autocar this week and didn't realise this wasn't the case, based on 911v's comments I did assume he had many / most of his cars priced were priced around that £25k mark.. :?

now having seen his 911v site it is disappointing to see that this isn't the case, as they are more like £30k +, he does has a good selection of cars (don't know anyone else who has so many 993's apart from Hendan Way in N.London) although I do know his markup is £7k on a car he has for sale at the sticker price £30k (verses bought price).. although sales on behalf of ciustomers are difficult to comment on, but there doesn't seem much diference between his and others !

this only re-enforces the view that what folk say in car mag's is some what not quite what one seeing in the real world...

not the 1st time a trader says one thing in the mag (people call based on the comments) and their cars are in fact at a different price range.... remember when I was buying my LHD Audi TT Back in 2001, Autocar did a feature on this trader in London, who had them at great prices, although when I went there a week later the prices had all changed dramatically

Autotrader has about 45 cars (mostly 993 models) between 20k and 25k.

Having read the full Autocar article I am even more convinced that Mark Pearson is out of order. Perhaps a little jealous of the exposure that Henry Firman has had. The selective info he has given does poor justice to the full statements made by Henry Firman in the article.

Having been and visited his lot, I wouldnt buy from Henry Firman on principle baased on attitude alone.

So Henry's Henry. We all knew that.

Mark, you have a v strong proposition that's v different to Henry's. The market is big enough for both of you, innit?

Second-hand car dealers - cuh...!

I've made enquiries a couple of times in the past with Mr Firman's outfit and found his whole attitude towards the customer quite condescending and patronising....yes, I agree to a point about the "buying on condition rather than mileage", but if you ask a straight question you should get a straight answer....I could never part with the sort of money a Porsche costs to a salesman like him....and frankly, I'm amazed that people do. (and no, I'm not a dealer/jealous or anything like that!"

I agree with Mark - why didn't Henry say in the article that you can get a 993 for 25 but you should budget around 30k? That would have been more realistic.

Is the quoted £3013 per bank for the timing chain correct? If so....ouch!
